Ingredients

  • 300 grams flour
  • 200 g suar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 small Bottle / s rum aroma
  • 3 drops bitter almond flavor
  • 1 pinch cardamom
  • 200 g butter or mararine, room temperature
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 150 g walnuts, round

For covering:

  • 400 g marzipan paste or persipan paste
  • 200 g couverture, dark
  • 200 g jam (currant jelly)
  • 60 walnuts (halves)
  • Flour for the work surface

Instructions

  1. Put the butter or margarine in a bowl. Add flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, rum flavor, bitter almond oil, cardamom, salt and walnuts and knead to form a smooth dough. Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface 1 cm thick and cut out stars. Line the baking sheet with baking paper and bake the stars in a preheated oven at 200 ° C (top / bottom heat, convection: 180 ° C) for about 10 minutes. Put the baking paper on a wire rack and let the stars cool down.
  3. Knead the marzipan and roll it out thinly between two layers of cling film. Cut stars out of the marzipan. Brush the biscuits thickly with currant jelly and place the marzipan stars on them and carefully press them down.
  4. Let the couverture become liquid in a water bath. Coat the stars with the couverture and press one more walnut half into the still warm chocolate. (The walnut can also be left out, I prefer to eat it without). Let dry at room temperature.
