Pancake Cake “Turtle Shell”

An unusual pancake cake is located on a plate, like a turtle hiding in its shell from prying eyes. The pancake cake with meat and potatoes is made from simple ingredients, but the turtle shell design gives the appetizer such an original look.

Ingredients

  • For pancakes:
  • Milk – 125 ml
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Vegetable oil – 40 ml
  • Flour – 180 g
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – a pinch

  • For filling:
  • Potatoes – 700 g
  • Meat (pork) – 400 g
  • Butter – 60 g
  • Mayonnaise – 80 g
  • Fresh dill – 1 bunch

Directions

  1. To make a pancake cake, first prepare the food and make thin pancakes with milk.
  2. Add water to the milk to the 250 ml mark.
  3. Combine all liquid ingredients – diluted milk, vegetable oil, egg.
  4. Add dry ingredients and make a batter for pancakes, adding another 100 ml of water while whisking.
  5. Bake about 13 thin pancakes.
  6. Prepare products for the pancake cake filling. Boil the meat. Cook the potatoes separately.
  7. Finely chop the dill.
  8. Coat the pancakes with mayonnaise and sprinkle with herbs.Roll the pancakes into a tube, which is then cut into centimeter pieces.
  9. Line the inner surface of a suitable container with cling film. Fill the bottom and sides of the form with pancake rolls.
  10. Make mashed potatoes and butter. Cover the pancakes with a layer of potato mass, leaving the middle free.
  11. Cut the boiled meat into cubes.
  12. Mix the remaining mayonnaise with the chopped meat.
  13. Fill the prepared cavity in the mashed potatoes with the meat filling.
  14. Cover with a layer of mashed potatoes.
  15. Put the pancake cake pan in the refrigerator for an hour. Then cover with a plate, turn quickly and gently remove the film along with the mold. The pancake cake is ready.
