Cake “Turtle”

A fairly quick and simple recipe for the “Turtle” cake – from biscuit dough and sour cream with condensed milk and butter. Your kids will love this cake.

Ingredients

For cakes:

  • Eggs – 6 pcs.
  • Sugar – 1 cup (180 g)
  • Flour – 1 cup (160 g)
  • Vanilla sugar – to taste
  • Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
    (or slaked soda)
  • Cocoa powder – 1.5 tbsp

For the cream:

  • Sour cream (with fat content above 20%) – 800 ml
  • Butter (softened) – 200 g
  • Condensed milk – 300 g
  • Powdered sugar (optional) – to taste

For decor:

  • Dark chocolate
  • Biscuits
  • Cocoa powder – 1.5 tbsp
  • Red mastic or berries

Directions

  1. We prepare the ingredients for the cakes. Eggs should be at room temperature.
  2. Beat eggs on medium mixer speed, whisk or in a food processor.
  3. Then add sugar and vanilla sugar to the eggs. Beat until the sugar dissolves.
  4. We introduce sifted flour with baking powder. (The baking powder can be replaced with 0.5 teaspoons of soda, slaked with 0.5-1 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar.)
  5. Beat at the lowest speed to prevent the flour from scattering throughout the kitchen.
  6. Divide the dough into 2 parts. In one part, add cocoa powder (1.5 tablespoons) and beat at a slow speed.
  7. Let’s start preparing the cream. At the same time, preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Beat sour cream (at least 20%) for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Add softened butter and condensed milk – beat until smooth. We taste and, if not sweet enough, add powdered sugar (but no sugar!).
  9. Cover a long, large baking sheet with parchment (or grease with oil). With a tablespoon, spread the dough in portions and level, forming circles.
    We send the biscuit cakes to the oven for 12-15 minutes. We check the readiness with a toothpick – it must be dry. Leave the finished biscuits to cool for 15-20 minutes, they must be cold, otherwise, the cream will flow.
  10. Putting together the Turtle cake. Grease the bottom of the plate with the cream layout of the chocolate biscuits – grease with cream.
  11. Alternating light and chocolate cakes, lay them out in a heap (leave 5 light cakes to decorate the “Turtle” cake).
    We send the cake to the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set the butter.
  12. In the meantime, shape the turtle’s head. To do this, lightly grease two-light, approximately identical biscuits and combine.
  13. You can use red berries as a tongue.
  14. You can also make a tongue out of mastic. For the legs, we need 2 more light round biscuits, each of which needs to be cut in half, greased with cream, and connected.
  15. Then we form the tail (it should be narrowed on one side and widened on the other).
  16. We take out the cake from the refrigerator and sprinkle it with cocoa.
  17. Then sprinkle with finely grated chocolate and cocoa powder again.
  18. Grate the cookies or grind them in a blender.
  19. Sprinkle on the edges of the plate, imitating the sand on which the turtle is crawling.
  20. We attach the “head” of the turtle – we can see approximately where it “lies” beautifully, in that place we slightly cut the cakes with a knife. Pour some cream onto the “sand” and insert the head. At the base of the head, crush with cocoa or chocolate.
  21. When you shape the cake, there are usually some scraps left. These pieces of biscuit can be placed under the turtle’s head to give the impression that it slightly lifted its head.
  22. Then we open the paws, grease them with cream, and put them on the sides. Sprinkle with cocoa or chocolate at the beginning of the legs.
  23. Then slightly cut the cake in the place where the “tail” should be and paste it. Sprinkle with chocolate at the base.
  24. Put 2 pieces of chocolate in a resealable bag and melt in the microwave or hot water. Cut off a small corner with scissors.
  25. Draw the eyes with melted chocolate. (Eyes can also be made with coffee beans or M & Ms chocolates.)
  26. In the same way, we draw the legs with chocolate.
  27. Cake “Turtle” is ready.
  28. Before serving the “Turtle” cake on the table, leave the cake for 2-3 hours – it must soak.
