Ingredients

  • 350 g beans, white, dried, not canned
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 2 teaspoons paprika powder, noble sweet
  • 1 teaspoon flour (if necessary or desired, it becomes firmer)
  • Peppers, red, dried
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly cream

Instructions

  1. Cook the beans in hot water with the margarine until the beans are soft. The beans should be completely covered with water.
  2. Tip: Soak the beans in hot water overnight, this will reduce the cooking time.
  3. While the beans are cooking, peel and dice the onion. When the beans are soft, remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Sauté onions until translucent, stir in paprika powder (if necessary or desired, add 1 teaspoon of flour - but it will become firmer). Deglaze with the brew from the cooked beans and stir quickly with a whisk so that there are no lumps.
  5. Put the whole thing back into the saucepan with the beans, season with salt and pepper (a dash of cream if you like) and simmer on a low heat for another 30 minutes.
  6. Fresh, warm bread is great with it!
  7. You can also cook 250 g of beef or lamb in one piece with the beans as a meat insert. Tastes very good with it!
