Portuguese Biscuits

Many Portuguese desserts are based on yolks and high amounts of sugar. I suggest making “Portuguese biscuits” and pampering your loved ones with these simple but delicious homemade cakes. For spices, you can add cinnamon, vanilla, or lemon zest. The biscuits have a delicate creamy taste, slightly crunchy and literally melting in your mouth … I’m sure you will like it!

Ingredients

  • Butter – 100 Grams
  • Egg yolk – 1 Piece
  • Sugar – 4 Tbsp (plus for rolling)
  • Flour – 170 grams

Directions

  1. Prepare all ingredients. Combine soft butter, sugar, and yolk.
  2. Rub everything together with a fork or hands. Add flour. Knead to a smooth, soft dough.
  3. Now, pinching the pieces of the dough with your hands, roll the cookies into the form of long sticks. Cookies do not have to be the same length, the size generally depends on your preference.
  4. Dip the cookies in sugar on all sides and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment or a silicone mat. Bake at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes.
  5. The Portuguese biscuits are ready. The cookies are fragile and very tender, with tea, coffee, or milk – very tasty! Enjoy your meal!
