Roll with Poppy Seeds (Made from Yeast Dough)

We offer you a recipe for delicious homemade pastries made from aromatic pastry. A roll of yeast dough stuffed with small poppy seeds and raisins will surely please your household.

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Fresh pressed yeast – 30 g
  • Milk – 250 g
  • Sugar – 0.5 cups
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Margarine – 100 g
  • Salt – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 sachet
  • Flour – about 800 g

For filling:

  • Poppy – 2 glasses
  • Sugar – 100 g
  • Raisins – 100 g
  • Honey – 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Stir a teaspoon of sugar in about 100 ml of warm (no more than 38 degrees) milk, dissolve all the yeast. Leave the bowl with yeast for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
    Melt margarine.
  2. In a separate bowl (large bowl) combine 1 egg, 1 egg white (the yolk is useful for greasing baked goods), sugar, vanilla sugar, the remaining warm milk. Mix everything.
    Add cooled margarine to the mixture.
  3. Pour the fermented yeast mixture into the same bowl and sift 200 g of flour. Stir everything. Cover the resulting liquid dough with plastic wrap.
  4. After half an hour, the batter will come up, greatly increasing in volume.
  5. Knead an elastic dough, gradually adding the sifted flour. Set aside.
  6. In the meantime, prepare the filling. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds. After 10 minutes, drain the water. Add sugar to the poppy seeds. Pass everything through a meat grinder. Next, beat the mixture with a blender. Add the raisins to the poppy seeds and simmer over a small fire, stirring the mixture continuously until all the moisture has evaporated. Remove the poppy seed filling from the heat and stir in the honey. Leave the filling for the roll to cool.
  7. After 40 minutes, the dough will work well. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
    Turn on the oven and heat up to 190 degrees.
  8. Roll each piece with a rolling pin. You should get a layer 1 cm thick.
  9. Put the prepared filling on the rolled layer. Collapse the roll.
    Do the same with all the dough and transfer the rolls to a baking sheet.
    After 10 minutes, grease the rolls with yolk.
    Send the yeast rolls with poppy seeds to the preheated oven.
  10. After about 20 minutes, the yeast dough poppy seed rolls are ready.
