Steaks with Teriyaki Sauce

Beef steaks are served with bean sprouts and teriyaki sauce. You can make your own teriyaki sauce – the recipe is simple.

Ingredients

  • Beef tenderloin – 4 steaks (150 g each)
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Bean sprouts – 2 cups
  • Green onions (finely chopped) – 4 pcs.
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
    For the sauce:
  • Mirin (rice wine) – 2 tbsp
  • Sake or dry sherry – 2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce – 4 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Sprinkle the steaks with salt and pepper on all sides and set aside. Prepare the teriyaki sauce. Combine mirin, sake, soy sauce, and sugar in a bowl, mix well with a fork or whisk.
  2. Heat a large frying pan over high heat, pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, heat. Place the bean sprouts in a skillet and fry quickly over high heat, stirring occasionally, for about 30 seconds. Transfer the sprouts to a paper towel.
  3. Pour the remaining vegetable oil into the same pan and heat. Place the steaks in a preheated pan and fry for about 3-5 minutes on each side (until the desired degree of doneness). Transfer steaks to a board, cover with foil.
  4. Remove the pan from the stove, pour in the prepared sauce, and sprinkle the green onions, place on the stove, and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 2 minutes.
  5. Place the bean sprouts on serving bowls. Cut the steaks into slices and place them on the sprouts. Pour the sauce over the meat and serve immediately.
