Yeast Bread in a Pan

In order to bake soft, porous bread at home, it is not at all necessary to use the oven. Lush yeast bread with kefir is easy and simple to prepare – in a frying pan. This crispy brown bread is a great base for sandwiches!

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour – 225 g
  • Kefir – 150 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp + for lubrication
  • Dry yeast – 5 g
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Sift flour and yeast into a deep bowl. Add sugar and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Warm the kefir slightly in any convenient way to a temperature not exceeding 50 degrees. Pour warm kefir into a bowl. Stir and knead for a soft, sticky dough. Pour vegetable oil into a bowl of dough and stir.
  3. Transfer the dough to a table and knead well for about 7-10 minutes. At first, the dough will stick, but gradually it will become softer and more elastic.
  4. Grease the bowl in which the dough was kneaded with vegetable oil. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a bowl. Cover with a bag or towel and send to a warm place to rise for about 40-50 minutes.
  5. The bread dough should roughly double. Beat the dough that has come up a little, and again form a ball out of it.
  6. A pan with high sides and a non-stick coating, brush with vegetable oil (I have a pan with a diameter of 22 cm). Put the dough into the pan and gently stretch it with your hands along the bottom of the pan, forming a flat cake. Cover the pan with a lid.
  7. Send the pan with the dough to a warm place to rise for about 30 minutes. I used the multicooker in the “Heat” mode, placing it on top of the bowl – but this is not necessary at all.
  8. Put the pan with the matched dough on the lowest heat and, without opening the lid, cook for about 15-17 minutes, until golden brown. Then remove the lid and cover the cake with baking parchment.
  9. Place a large flat plate on top of the parchment and gently turn the pan over. The bread will easily fall out of the pan and end up on the plate.
  10. Without removing the baking parchment, gently transfer the bread, browned side up, back into the pan. Cover and cook over low heat for about 10-12 minutes.
  11. When pressed, the finished bread springs and returns to its original position. Remove the bread from the skillet, cover with a towel, and let cool. Soft, airy bread in a frying pan is ready. Cut it into small pieces and serve.
