Yeast-Free Dough on Kefir (for Flat Cakes)

Bake wonderful cakes on kefir, which can be stuffed with any fillings of meat, cottage cheese, apples or berries. The dough on kefir turns out to be light, thicker than the usual unleavened dough and is prepared much faster and easier than yeast dough.

Servings: 10

Cook: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Kefir – 0.5 l
  • Eggs – 1 pc.
  • Baking soda – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Flour – 1 kg
  • Salt – 1-2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Add an egg to kefir, mix.
  2. Add soda.
  3. Then gradually add flour. Leave a glass of flour for the final kneading and topping when rolling.
  4. Knead the dough on a cutting board or in a wide saucepan, knead well.
  5. Roll the dough into a tourniquet and cut off pieces (the size of an egg).
  6. Roll them into flat cakes no more than 0.5 cm thick and 10-15 cm in diameter.
  7. Place the filling in the middle of the cake.
  8. Covering the filling on both sides with opposite edges of the tortilla, pinch the dough over the filling.
  9. Form a boat-shaped pie.
  10. Place on a greased baking sheet, brush with sweet water or vegetable oil on top and bake pies on kefir in the oven.
  11. Such a kefir cake is no worse than yeast dough pies!
