Ingredients

  • 1 chicken
  • 1 can beer (0.33 or 0.5 l)
  • 2 tablespoon chicken seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 0.5 ½ onion (s) or potato
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • possibly Tabasco
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Herbs, Italian

Instructions

  1. First remove the giblets from the (thawed) chicken, rinse the chicken with water and then dry it thoroughly. Rub the chicken thoroughly first with the vegetable oil and then with the spice mixture for roasted chicken.
  2. Take a standard beer can and empty about 1/3. For the special taste you can now add spices, garlic, Tabasco, etc. to the can. Here you have all the freedom. During the roasting process, the flavor of the selected ingredients will transfer to the grilled chicken.
  3. It may work without a special bracket, but to be on the safe side, I would definitely recommend the metal stand for Drunken Chicken. Place the prepared beer can in the holder and put the chicken over the can. The neck opening is then blocked with half an onion or potato so that the beer vapors produced during roasting cannot escape.
  4. You can prepare the Beer Can Chicken either in the grill or in the oven. The grilling time in the oven is 1 - 1 1/2 hours until the skin is golden brown. It is best to use poultry shears or a large knife for cutting.
