  • 4 slices cooked ham, good quality
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 3 egg (s)
  • 1 dash milk
  • butter
  • salt and pepper
  • Chili powder or cayenne pepper
  • cranberries

Instructions

  1. Put the eggs in a shallow bowl with a dash of milk and beat them lightly with a fork. Season with salt, pepper and some chilli.
  2. Place the toast slices one after the other in the egg and let them soak well. Poke a little with the fork so that the egg penetrates well and the toasts are really well soaked. Do not leave it in there for too long, otherwise they will dissolve. Then take the toast out and place it on a plate.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a non-stick pan. The butter should be hot, but not dark.
  4. Place 1 slice of cheddar cheese and then 2 slices of ham on one of the toast slices. Fold so that as little as possible protrudes. Place a second slice of toast on top and off with the sandwich in the pan. Let it brown on one side for a few minutes, then briefly put the lid on so that the heat builds up and the cheese melts nicely. Let sizzle for another 2 minutes. Then turn over and repeat with the remaining toast. Possibly add butter for the second sandwich.
  5. Serve on a plate. A blob of sweets, such as B. cranberries or forest fruit jam, goes great with it.
  6. Sufficient for 2 sandwiches, i.e. for 2 people or one person who is very hungry.
