Chicken in Red Sauce Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs and drumsticks – 600 Grams
  • Onion – 1 Piece
  • Garlic – 1 Clove
  • Sunflower oil – 20 Milliliters
  • Tomato paste – 2 Tbsp. spoons
  • Salt – To taste
  • Ground black pepper – To taste
  • Sugar – 1 Teaspoon
  • Parsley, dill – 10 Grams

Chicken in Red Sauce Instructions

  1. Wash and pat dry the 600 grams of chicken pieces. Heat 20 ml of sunflower oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides for 8-10 minutes total, turning occasionally.
  3. Add the peeled, diced onion to the skillet and cook over medium heat for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Transfer the chicken and onion to a heavy-bottomed pot. Add 250-300 ml of water, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and cover with a lid.
  5. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, then reduce to low and simmer covered for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 74°C / 165°F).
  6. Stir in 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Continue heating on low for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, stir in the minced garlic clove, garnish with chopped parsley and dill, and serve.
