Ingredients

  • 250 g flour
  • salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 50 g butter
  • liter ⅛ milk, lukewarm
  • Butter and flour for the baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour with a strong pinch of salt and the baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Chop the butter into small cubes with a knife, add to the lukewarm milk and let it melt.
  3. Add the butter-milk mixture to the flour in the bowl and mix in thoroughly with a fork. Knead the dough briefly with your hands and shape into a ball. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees.
  4. Grease a baking sheet, place the dough on it and shape it into a square with lightly floured hands. With the back of a large knife, mark 12 pieces on the dough.
  5. Dust the dough with flour and bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 15 minutes. Take out, let cool and serve fresh.
  6. The rolls taste spicy if you add dried herbs, a little garlic and 2-3 tablespoons of grated Parmesan to the batter.
  7. Whole wheat flour can also be used, but then you need a little more milk.
