German Potato Salad Classic

I want to tell you how to make a classic German potato salad. Hearty, aromatic and delicious. A great lunch or dinner dish for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 1 Kilogram
  • Onion – 1-2 Pieces
  • Bacon – 150 Grams
  • Flour – 1 Art. the spoon
  • Sugar – 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt – 0.5 Teaspoons
  • Vinegar – 50 Milliliters
  • Water – 100 Milliliters
  • Mustard – 1 Teaspoon
  • Greens – To taste

Directions

  1. Here is a fairly simple recipe for a classic German potato salad. So, first, wash the potatoes properly, put them in a saucepan and send them to the fire. Simmer over medium heat until soft.
  2. Then gently clean. In order not to burn your hands, you can use a clean towel and clean through it – it will be quite convenient. Cut into medium slices.
  3. Place the bacon on the grill and fry on both sides until crisp.
  4. Then carefully remove it, cool slightly and cut into small pieces. Put onion chopped into small cubes in bacon fat, fry it.
  5. Add sugar, salt, a pinch of pepper and flour. Stir everything gently and leave on fire for a couple of minutes.
  6. Pour in the water with vinegar (best used in the recipe for making German potato salad, classic wine vinegar), add mustard to taste. Mix everything well and leave to boil until the onion is fully cooked.
  7. Combine potatoes, bacon and sauce in a deep bowl. Mix everything carefully and sprinkle with fresh herbs. Serve immediately afterwards.
