Ingredients

  • 600 g herrin fillet (s) in oil
  • 800 g sour cream, 10% fat or lactose-free sour cream
  • 2 medium apples, e.g. moon apples, Cox Orange or Boskoop
  • 1 medium vegetable onion (s)
  • 5 pickled cucumber (s), e.g. Spreewälder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon, leveled pepper, ground
  • Dill, chopped
  • 1 kg potato (s)

Instructions

  1. Drain the matjes fillets and place them on kitchen paper so that the oil can be soaked up.
  2. Put the sour cream in a bowl (if possible a bowl with a lid) and stir with salt, pepper and sugar until creamy. Cut the onion, apples and cucumber into 1 cm cubes and add to the sour cream. Finally, cut the matjes fillets into bite-sized pieces and add them. Stir everything well and then cover and place in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours. As a variation, you can stir in fresh or frozen dill.
  3. Boil the potatoes as jacket potatoes and enjoy with the herring tip.
