Homemade Beetroot

Lean beetroot is very easy to cook.

Ingredients

  • Beet 500 g
  • Onions – 2 pcs.
  • Carrots – 1-2 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Lemon juice – 3-4 tbsp
  • or Citric acid – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1-1.5 teaspoon
  • Peppercorns – 5-7 pcs.
  • Bay leaf – 1-2 pcs.
  • Sour cream – 100 g
  • Greens – 0.5 bunch

Directions

  1. Prepare food.
  2. Peel the beets, cut into several pieces.
  3. Fill with water (2 l). Boil in water until tender (30-40 minutes). Take out, cool and grate.
  4. Peel and grate the garlic.
  5. Peel the onion and chop finely.
  6. Peel and wash the carrots. Finely chop or grate.
  7. Peel and dice the potatoes.
  8. Bring the broth to a boil, put the potatoes in it. Boil the diced potatoes in the beetroot broth (15 minutes).
  9. While the potatoes are boiling, prepare the frying. To do this, heat up vegetable oil, put onions and carrots, fry in oil, stirring occasionally, over medium heat (5-7 minutes).
  10. Put the frying in the beetroot.
  11. Add the beets grated with garlic.
  12. Put peppercorns, bay leaves, lemon juice or citric acid.
  13. Add sugar, salt, bring to a boil, simmer under a lid over low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  14. Serve with sour cream and herbs. Bon appetit!
