Meringue «Merry Ghosts» (with Cornmeal)

Light, airy meringue cakes will give you a good mood and decorate any holiday, especially Halloween. Paint the meringue with special edible dyes for a fun treat that kids will love most.

Ingredients

  • Egg white – 2 pcs.
  • Sugar or powdered sugar – 100 g
  • Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon.
  • Corn flour – 50 g (2 tablespoons)

Directions

  1. We prepare the ingredients. To make this recipe meringue, you must use only the finest grind of cornmeal, as the grains can spoil the shape and texture of the cakes.
  2. Beat the egg whites in a deep bowl with a mixer until fluffy. Continuing to beat, add sugar (icing sugar) and add lemon juice.
  3. Beat the whites with sugar at high speed. The mass will quickly increase in volume, become lush and airy.
  4. Add cornflour (can be replaced with wheat flour or 1 tablespoon of starch).
  5. Stir with a spatula until smooth.
  6. Put the protein mass in a culinary bag and form small cakes on a baking sheet or in a baking dish, leaving a small “tail” on top.
    We send the meringue to the oven preheated to a temperature of 120-130 degrees. We are waiting for 60-80 minutes.
  7. Then draw with a culinary pencil the eyes and mouth on each cake.
  8. The “Merry Ghosts” meringues are ready!
