Naval Pasta with Minced Meat and Cheese (in the Oven)

Naval pasta in the oven is an option for preparing a well-known and beloved dish. Minced meat, fried with onions, carrots, tomato paste, and basil, is baked with pasta, soaked with meat juices. The cheese crust emphasizes the taste and aroma of the dish, gives it a delicious look.

Ingredients

  • Minced meat – 400 g
  • Pasta (horns) – 200 g
  • Hard cheese – 50-70 g
  • Carrots – 1/2 pc. (50 g)
  • Bulb onions – 1/2 pc. (60 g)
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Sour cream – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato paste – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – 2 pinches
  • Dried basil – 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Hot drinking water – 400 ml

For filling:

  • Fresh dill – to taste

Directions

  1. Peel the onion and chop finely. Put the onion in a frying pan preheated with vegetable oil.
  2. Peel the carrots, rinse and grate on a fine grater. Add to skillet with onions. Sauté the carrots and onions for 7 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Turn on the oven to heat up to 200 degrees.
  3. Place the minced meat in the skillet. Add dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 pinch of ground pepper. Stir and fry for 3 minutes, until the minced meat changes color.
  4. Add tomato paste to the mince pan. Add sour cream. Stir and fry for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Put the fried minced meat into a baking dish (mine is 26 cm in diameter). Pour hot water into the mold, add the remaining salt and ground pepper.
  6. Place the dry pasta in a mold. Peel the garlic, finely grate and add to the minced meat with pasta.
  7. Stir and place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 35 minutes. After the time has passed, remove the pasta dish from the oven.
  8. Grate the cheese on a fine grater and sprinkle on the navy pasta. Return the pasta dish to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. The navy pasta is ready in the oven. Let the dish stand for 10 minutes. In the dill, rinse, dry, and finely chop. Cut the dish into portions, sprinkle with dill and serve.
