Ingredients

  • 300 g wheat flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ¼ salt
  • 40 g butter or mararine, soft
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 150 g yourt (at least 3.5% fat)
  • Flour for the work surface

For painting:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Knead a dough from flour, baking powder, salt, butter, egg and yogurt. Roll this out on a floured surface approx. 2 cm thick and cut out circles approx. 5 cm in diameter. If you don`t have a cookie cutter, you can also use a water glass. Then dip the edge in flour beforehand.
  2. Mix one egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of cream and brush the scones with it. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C for approx. 10-15 minutes until the scones are lightly browned.
  3. In England, the scones are eaten warm with jam and clotted cream (the latter is a calorie bomb that I would most likely compare with crème double or mascarpone). We only like butter and / or jam on it.
