Ingredients

  • 1 liter red wine, very dry, preferably from France
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 100 ml brandy
  • 1 handful leaves, (young walnut leaves)

Instructions

  1. Harvest the young, light green leaves from the walnut tree, they should smell intensely, this is ideally the case in May. Cut the leaves from the stems, wash them in cold water and dry them well with a kitchen towel.
  2. Use a large glass vessel for the approach.
  3. Add the sugar to the red wine and stir well until it has dissolved. Add the brandy and the leaves. Close the jar.
  4. Let the walnut wine steep for 14 days in the warm, but not in the sun. Then strain through a cloth and fill into bottles. Let it rest in the cellar for a few weeks in the dark.
