Ingredients

  • 110 g rice (wild rice)
  • 250 ml water
  • 100 g walnuts
  • 2 apples
  • 225 ml syrup (maple syrup)
  • 350 ml sweet cream
  • 1 pinch (s) nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Put rice in a saucepan with water and salt and bring to the boil; then simmer for half an hour. Roughly chop the walnuts and cut the apples into small wedges. Mix half of the maple syrup with nutmeg, cinnamon, apples and walnuts (save some walnuts for garnish), mix everything with the cooked wild rice. Put this mixture in a greased casserole dish and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes. Beat the cream with the rest of the maple syrup until stiff; Put the icing on the warm dessert just before serving, sprinkle with cinnamon and garnish with halved walnuts.
