Homemade Bread Baked with Spicy Butter, Cheese and Herbs

The already unrealistically delicious homemade bread with a porous airy crumb and an appetizing crispy crust can also be served interestingly. To do this, cut the baked loaf with rhombuses, pour over with fragrant melted butter with garlic and oregano, sprinkle with suluguni cheese with herbs, and send to the oven again. This wonderful bread does not crumble when cut, but you do not need to cut it – it is convenient to simply break off bread lozenges with cheese with your hands.

Ingredients

For the test:

  • Water (room temperature) – 170 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Flour – 300 g (2 cups, 250 ml)
  • Pressed yeast – 20 g
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Suluguni cheese – 150 g
  • Butter – 80 g
  • Fresh parsley – 2 sprigs
  • Dry garlic – 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano dry – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Sift the flour.
  2. Pour room temperature water into a deep bowl, add salt, sugar and crumble fresh yeast.
  3. Add half the sifted flour. Stir with a whisk until you get a smooth, homogeneous dough without lumps.
  4. Pour in half the vegetable oil. Stir.
  5. Add the rest of the flour, stir.
  6. Place the dough on a flat work surface and continue kneading. You need to knead for a long time, at least 5 minutes, – then the dough will be homogeneous, and the bread will turn out to be airy. Gather the dough into a ball. Lubricate the bowl and dough with vegetable oil (leave some oil to grease the rug). Place the dough in a bowl.
  7. Cover the bowl with a towel or cling film and place in a warm place for 1 hour – during this time the dough will increase 2-3 times. The dough turns out to be universal and is suitable not only for baking homemade bread but also savory pies and pies.
  8. Lubricate the silicone mat with the remaining vegetable oil. Beat the dough that has come up and placed it on a greased surface. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a rectangle about 20×43 cm in size.
  9. On the narrow side, start rolling a tight roll. Wrap the edges of the roll inward.
  10. Pinch the edges of the roll tightly.
  11. Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the loaf seam side down on it. Place it in a warm place for 30 minutes to rise.
  12. Using a sharp knife blade, make several parallel oblique cuts on the surface of the loaf and leave for another 10 minutes.
  13. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and place a baking sheet of bread in it.
  14. Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  15. Cool the loaf completely before filling it with the filling. Prepare the ingredients for the filling.
  16. Cut the loaf obliquely in two directions, without cutting to the bottom, so that rhombuses form on the surface (see photo). It is best to do this with a special knife-file for bread, it will cut the top crust well and will not crumb the crumb. Turn on the oven again and preheat to 180 degrees.
  17. Melt the butter (in the microwave), add dry garlic and oregano to it.
  18. Spoon the melted butter evenly over the slices of the loaf so that it gets inside.
  19. Grate suluguni on a fine grater. Finely chop the parsley. Combine cheese and parsley.
  20. Make a plate out of foil and place the loaf in it. Carefully spread the cheese with herbs over the surface and cuts of the loaf.
  21. Tuck the edges of the foil “plate” up. The loaf is ready for roasting. Cover it with a sheet of foil and bake at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
  22. Remove the top sheet of foil and bake the bread and cheese for another 5 minutes. Then remove from the oven.
  23. Homemade bread with cheese, spiced butter, and herbs, ready to serve. Of course, you can eat it with pleasure in a cooled form, but it is warm bread soaked in aromatic butter and stretching melted cheese that will leave the most vivid impressions of homemade baking!
