Ingredients

  • 600 g minced meat, from the lamb
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce
  • 10 cherry tomato (s)
  • 1 ciabatta
  • 4 sprigs mint
  • 1 apple
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 4 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • Chili sauce
  • raspberries

Instructions

  1. The recipe is a modification of traditional English cooked lamb. I replaced the mint sauce with a lighter relish so that the lamb`s own flavor comes out better. Minced lamb is comparatively cheap and has a great taste. The dish is quick, easy and inexpensive to prepare.
  2. Dice the onion, garlic and apple. Chop the mint.
  3. Salt and pepper the minced lamb, then mix well with half of the chopped onion, garlic and mint and knead. Store in the refrigerator for 10 minutes and then shape patties (as desired). If you want it to be spicy, just add a little chili sauce.
  4. In the meantime, put the diced apple in a bowl with the rest of the mint and add the oil and vinegar. Mash lightly. Season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar. If you want, you can add two or three fresh raspberries and crush them at this point. Sounds unusual, but fits perfectly.
  5. Fry the garlic, onion rings and a few apple cubes in a pan and add the patties and fry medium-rare or as desired. Of course you can grill the burgers too.
  6. Halve bread lengthways and toast, garnish with a lettuce leaf and add onion rings and burger.
  7. Serve with a light red wine.

  9. Instead of apple and mint relish, a tomato and chilli sauce also tastes good.
