Lazy Stuffed Cabbage Ingredients

  • Fresh or sauerkraut cabbage – 600 g
  • Rice – 3 tbsp
  • Bulb onions – 2 pcs.
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 60 ml
  • Sour cream (or sour cream sauce) – 100 g (to taste)
  • Salt – 2 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Flour (for breading) – 3 tbsp (how much will it take)
  • Broth (water) – 50 ml

  1. You will also need 1 liter of boiling water, so you need to set the water to boil in advance.

  2. Finely chop fresh or sauerkraut.
  3. Put the cabbage in a saucepan.
  4. Pour a little water or broth over the cabbage (50 ml). Cover and simmer over low heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Rinse the rice well with cold water.
  6. Pour the washed rice with boiling water (1 l) and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cover. Cook the rice over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Throw the rice in a colander to drain excess liquid.
  7. Peel the onion, wash, chop finely.
  8. Preheat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil (30 ml). Put onion in hot oil. Fry the onion over medium heat until golden brown, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Add fried onions with butter and sugar to the cabbage.

  10. Stir and simmer a little more (about 5 minutes).
  11. Add rice to cabbage, salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon).
  12. Stir the rice with the cabbage.
  13. From the resulting mass, make cabbage rolls, giving them an oblong oval shape. Dip the cabbage rolls in flour.
  14. Preheat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil (30 ml). Put stuffed cabbage rolls in a skillet with hot oil.
  15. Fry cabbage rolls over medium heat until golden brown on all sides (1-2 minutes on each side).

  16. Then spread the cabbage rolls in a frying pan with a removable handle or baking sheet at a distance of at least 2 cm from each other.
  17. Top with stuffed cabbage rolls with sour cream or sour cream sauce.
  18. Place the cabbage rolls in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, on the middle shelf. Bake cabbage rolls with sour cream until tender, about 20-25 minutes.
