Casserole “Lazy Stuffed Cabbage” from Minced Chicken with Cabbage and Rice

Minced chicken casserole with cabbage and rice tastes like stuffed cabbage rolls. Sour cream-tomato sauce, under which “lazy cabbage rolls” are baked in the oven, soaks the ingredients and makes the casserole juicy and aromatic. And the carrot crust gives the dish an elegant appearance. Very tasty, simple, and satisfying!

Cook: 1 hour 15 minutes

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Chicken fillet – 500 g
  • White cabbage – 500 g
  • Rice – 100 g (dry)
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 150 g
  • Sour cream – 200 ml
  • Sunflower oil – 60 ml
  • Tomato paste – 1.5 tbsp
  • Bread crumbs – 0.5 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare the required ingredients. During the cooking process, you will need 250 ml of hot boiled water.
  2. Boil rice in salted water until half cooked (8 minutes after boiling water). Place the rice in a colander, rinse with a little water, and leave to drain.
  3. Chop the cabbage thinly. Peel and cut onions into small cubes. Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet and fry the onions over high heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Transfer the cabbage to the pan with the onion. Fry the cabbage over high heat, stirring occasionally until it is beautifully golden brown (about 8-10 minutes). Then remove the skillet from the stove.
  5. Cut the chicken fillet into small pieces. Pass the chicken fillet through a meat grinder. Transfer the fried cabbage with onions to the minced chicken fillet.
  6. Add rice here. Add salt and black pepper. Stir the ingredients in the casserole. Turn on the oven to heat up to 190 degrees.
  7. Grease a baking dish (17×21 cm) with sunflower oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Put the minced meat in the prepared form and smooth the surface.
  8. Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater. Place the grated carrots all over the casserole. Combine tomato paste, sour cream, and hot boiled water. Season with salt and stir the sauce.
  9. Pour the sauce over the casserole and send to the oven preheated to 190 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
  10. Minced chicken casserole with cabbage and carrots, with sour cream-tomato sauce, ready. Cut the Lazy Cabbage Rolls into portions and serve.
