Puff Buns with Onions

Soft and golden brown onion buns are a savory combination of flavors and aromas. Crispy puff pastry, aromatic red onions and Italian herbs are favorably set off with sweet honey notes. And these wonderful buns are very quick and easy to prepare!

Ingredients

  • Red onion – 150-200 g
  • Puff pastry – 500 g
  • Butter – 40 g
  • Liquid honey – 20 g
  • Flour (for working with dough) – about 1 tbsp
  • Dried Italian herbs – to taste
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. We prepare the necessary products. Defrost the puff pastry. We turn on the oven to heat up to 200 degrees.
  2. Peel the onion and cut into rings (washers) 0.5 cm thick.
  3. Cut out circles from the dough with a glass. The dia of the dough slices should be slightly larger than the dia of the onion rings.
  4. Put the dough circles on a baking sheet covered with parchment.
  5. Put onion circles on top of the dough.
  6. Salt the onion and sprinkle with Italian herbs.
  7. Put a small piece of butter on the onion.
  8. Put the buns in a preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes.
  9. As soon as the buns become fluffy and begin to brown, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Lightly grease hot buns along the rim with liquid honey.
