Puff Pastry Buns with Milk, Ham and Cheese

For puff and yeast-based savory baked goods at the same time, make these incredibly delicious and beautiful buns with cheese and hamburgers. Due to the fact that the yeast dough is laid out in layers, it will be crispy on the outside, and soft and airy on the inside.

Ingredients

  • Milk – 300 ml
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp + for greasing the baking sheet
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Flour – 500 g + for working with dough
  • Dry yeast – 6 g
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Hard cheese – 150 g
  • Ham – 150 g
  • Butter – 30 g

Directions

  1. Combine yeast, sugar, and salt in warm milk. Stir and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Sift flour into a deep bowl (4 incomplete glasses with a capacity of 200 ml). Pour in the milk with yeast.
  3. Pour the egg into a bowl and loosen it with a fork.
  4. Stir flour and milk with a spoon and pour in half the egg. Leave the rest of the egg to grease the buns before baking.
  5. Knead the dough with your hands and add the vegetable oil.
  6. Knead the dough completely so that it does not stick to your hands, round it, and cover the bowl with cling film. Leave the dough to rise at room temperature.
  7. After about 1 hour, the dough rose well.
  8. Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces.
  9. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
  10. Also, grate the ham.
  11. Place the grated cheese and ham in a bowl.
  12. Stir the filling ingredients.
  13. Roll the dough into a thin cake. Sprinkle flour on the table if necessary.
  14. Melt the butter in any convenient way. Brush the flatbread with melted butter (calculate the amount of butter per 10 flatbreads).
  15. Place the filling in the center of the cake.
  16. Lift the free edges of the flatbread up and twist them a little, forming a “bag” of filled dough.
  17. Then straighten these edges of the cake around the “bag” of filling.
  18. Turn the bun over and lift the free edges of the dough up.
  19. Bring the edges of the dough together and pinch well.
  20. Flip the bun over so the seam is at the bottom.
  21. Cover the baking sheet with baking paper, grease the paper with vegetable oil. Put the prepared buns on a baking sheet, cover with a towel or cling film and leave to proof for half an hour. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 ° C.
  22. Before baking, brush the remaining beaten egg on the buns with a silicone brush and place the baking sheet in the oven.
  23. Bake the buns at 180 ° C for 20-25 minutes, until they are golden brown. (Your baking time may be slightly different – be guided by the characteristics of your oven).
