Puff Sticks with Olives

We are preparing an interesting elegant appetizer, which will go “with beer”, and at a festive buffet table will be appropriate – puff sticks with olives. The preparation of this appetizer is quite easy and quick, and the result is so beautiful and delicious that the recipe should definitely be in everyone’s piggy bank.

Ingredients

  • Yeast-free puff pastry – 250 g
  • Pitted olives (stuffed) – 200 g
  • Yolk – 1 pc.
  • Milk – 1 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil (for greasing the baking sheet) – 1 tbsp

We choose pitted olives (I like stuffed olives with anchovies), dark ripe olives are also suitable.

Directions

  1. If it was frozen, leave the dough on the table for a while. Free the olives from the liquid.
  2. Put one layer of dough (125 grams) on a cutting board and roll it out a little.
  3. Put three longitudinal rows of olives on the dough at a short distance from each other (as shown in the photo).
  4. Grease the edges of the dough and the spaces between the rows of olives with milk using a cooking brush.
  5. Roll out the second layer of dough, cover the olives with it. Press the spaces between the rows of olives and the edges of the dough with your hands. Cover the blank with cling film and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees.
  6. After a while, carefully cut the dough and olives into strips so that each one contains three olives.
  7. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and grease with oil. Transfer the puffs to a baking sheet, grease with yolk, and send to an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 20 minutes.
  8. Puff sticks with olives are ready.
  9. The appetizer can be served at the table. These Italian-style sticks can even be served with slices of noble cheeses and a glass of wine. Bon Appetit!
