Instructions

  1. Mix the soft butter with the sugar, powdered sugar, a pinch of salt and the orange oil or zest with the mixer until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the flour and work in with the dough hook.
  3. Shape the pastry into a ball with your hands and place it on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Place a layer of baking paper over it and carefully roll out the dough between the layers of paper with a rolling pin or a bottle, up to all edges. The dough should be approx. 1-1.5 cm thick.
  4. Prick the rolled out dough evenly, close together, with a fork. It already has the typical shortbread pattern.
  5. Bake in the oven at a preheated 160 ° (gas level 1 - 2) for approx. 20 - 30 minutes until golden yellow to light brown.
  6. Check again and again after 20 minutes so that they don`t get too dark !!!
  7. Cut the wonderfully fragrant pastries while they are still hot in the form into Fingers (1.5 x 5 cm long pieces) and sprinkle with the vanilla sugar immediately.
  8. Caution: do not burn your mouth while snacking greedily (and inevitably)!
  9. It`s really quick and always worth it!

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
