Mix the butter with the marzipan, sugar and salt until smooth. Stir in the egg and almonds. Sieve the flour over it and knead so that a firm dough is formed. Shape the dough into 2 rolls and wrap in cling film, refrigerate for 2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (convection 160 degrees). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut the rolls into 8 mm thick slices and place them on the baking sheets. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Then let the thalers cool down, then melt the chocolate and use them to paint or dab the cookies as you like.
