Recipe for salting herring and other fish at home.

Ingredients

  • Fish (herring, herring) – 1 kg
  • Salt – 150 g

How to salt herring, herring, and other fish:

Directions

  1. Fresh or frozen herring, herring, sprat, bream, carp, and other fish are suitable for salting. Defrost frozen fish before salting.
  2. Do not gut small fish. Gut the medium-sized fish, leaving caviar and milk. Cut large fish along the back and remove all entrails. Rinse the prepared fish with cold water, drain the liquid.
  3. Put small fish in a bowl, sprinkle with salt, mix with your hands. Rub the medium fish with salt, sprinkle the large fish with additional salt from the inside and in the gills. Place the fish in rows in a suitable wooden, enamel, or glass container, sprinkle with salt. Cover the fish, put oppression, and place the container in a cool place. The duration of salting of herring and other fish depends on the size: small fish is ready in 2-3 days, medium – in 5-7, large – in 7-10 days.
