Yeast Onion Cakes (Oven)

Pleasant onion aroma and flavor, thin ruddy crust, porous crumb – these are the cakes that can be easily prepared from yeast dough in the oven. They go well with different dishes instead of bread.

Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • Bulb onions – 100 g (1 pc.)
  • Water – 100 ml
  • Sunflower oil – 40 ml
  • Sugar – 15 g
  • Flour – 380-400 g (3 cups with a capacity of 200 ml)
  • Dry yeast – 7 g
  • Salt – 0.5 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Peel the onion and cut it into large cubes.
  2. Chop the chopped onion with a blender. (If you wish, you can simply grate the whole onion on a fine grater.)
  3. Combine onion puree, warm water, and sunflower oil in a deep bowl. Pour in dry yeast, sugar, and salt.
  4. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Then add flour to the onion mixture.
  6. Knead a soft dough that holds its shape. Roll the dough into a ball, cover with a towel and leave to rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
  7. Beat the matched dough lightly and divide into 3 parts. Roll each piece of dough into a ball, and then form into flat cakes with a diameter of about 13 cm.
  8. Place the tortillas on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and leave in a warm place under a towel for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  9. Bake the onion cakes in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
