Lavash Roll with Herring, Beets, Carrots and Potatoes

Today I offer you a gorgeous recipe for a festive table – a pita roll with herring, carrots, potatoes and beets. It turns out almost salad “Herring under a fur coat” in pita bread. This is an incredible appetizer that, in addition to its gorgeous taste, is also very beautiful.

Servings: 5

Ingredients

  • Thin lavash – 300 g (5 pcs.)
  • Lightly salted herring (fillet) – 180 g
  • Beets – 1 pc. (180 g)
  • Potatoes – 1 pc. (150 g)
  • Carrots – 1 pc. (120 g)
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc. (70 g)
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise – 150 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare all the necessary foods according to the list.
  2. Boil beets, potatoes, carrots and eggs. You can cook everything in one pot. Boil eggs for 10 minutes after boiling water, potatoes and carrots – 20-25 minutes, beets – 60 minutes. Remove the eggs from the pan, cover with cold water and cool. Remove the prepared vegetables from the broth and let them cool.
  3. Peel vegetables and eggs.
  4. Cut herring fillets into small pieces. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
  5. Spread one sheet of pita bread on the work surface – it should be larger than the others so that free edges remain and it is easier to roll the roll. Also, on the first sheet, you can lay out several strips of pita bread so that the roll keeps its shape well and does not get wet. Grease pita bread with mayonnaise. Grate the beets on a medium or coarse grater and put on pita bread, leaving the edges free.
  6. Put the second lavash on top of the beets, grease with mayonnaise. Grate the carrots on a medium or coarse grater. Arrange the carrots in the next layer. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Put the next sheet of pita bread on the carrots, grease with mayonnaise. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater, lay out the next layer and smooth.
  8. Put the pita bread again and brush with mayonnaise. Grate eggs on a coarse grater and distribute evenly over a sheet of pita bread.
  9. Grease the final pita sheet with mayonnaise. Lay out the herring and onion, flatten.
  10. Roll up the pita bread.
  11. Wrap the roll with foil or cling film and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  12. Free the roll from film or foil. Lavash roll with herring, beets, carrots and potatoes is ready!
  13. Cut the roll into pieces and serve.
