  • 300 g lentils
  • 1 large onion (s)
  • 1 large carrot (s)
  • some celeriac
  • salt and pepper
  • vinegar
  • sugar
  • 4 sausages (caraway crackers)
  • 4 medium potato (s)
  • some semolina

Instructions

  1. Bring the lentils to a boil. They should be well covered with water, as they will still swell. Onion, carrot and celery are added at the same time. Please always stir, lentils burn quickly. Be careful not to add the spices (salt, pepper) until after the cooking time, otherwise they will not get soft.
  2. In the meantime, peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces. After the lentils have simmered for 30 minutes, the potato pieces can be added. Cut the cumin crackers into small slices and place in a hot pan (you don`t need to add any fat, as the crackers are a bit fat anyway).
  3. After a cooking time of about 60 minutes, everything is soft and salt, pepper and the crackers can be added. Finally, everything is seasoned with vinegar and sugar. To make it smoother, you can add a little semolina.
  4. A very good stew in the cold season.
