Instructions

Heat all ingredients, except lime juice, slowly and gently in a large saucepan. Let it stand for a few hours (stove switched off).
Before serving, heat again until the mulled wine is steaming. Season to taste with lime juice.
The apple juice makes the mixture very sweet. We pour the mulled wine either through a tea strainer into the cups or into the teapot, which is kept warm on the warmer.
Can be garnished with a lime wedge in the cup. If it is too sweet for you, you can dilute with tea of your choice (rooibos, black tea, certainly also with fruit tea).
