Azu in Tatar Style with Stewed Meat (in a Slow Cooker)

Azu is a dish of Tatar cuisine, where pieces of beef and vegetables are harmoniously combined. If you decide to please your home-made basics in Tatar style, you will need a cast-iron saucepan, cauldron, or a wonderful “miracle pot” – a slow cooker that does an excellent job of preparing this dish. Well, in a limited time, a quick recipe for the basics with the stew will help you out.

Ingredients

  • Beef stew – 1 can
  • Potatoes – 8 pcs.
  • Carrots – 2 pcs.
  • Bulb onions – 2 pcs.
  • Garlic – 5 teeth.
  • Pickled cucumbers – 3 pcs.
  • Tomato paste – 30 grams
  • Olive oil
  • Bay leaf – 3-4 pcs.
  • Ground pepper
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Cut the peeled onions into medium-sized pieces.
  2. Pour olive oil into a multicooker bowl, add chopped onion and start the Fry program.
  3. While the onions are browning, chop the peeled carrots into cubes.
  4. Then put it in a slow cooker, stir and fry the vegetables for about 10 minutes.
  5. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes.
  6. Place the potato slices over the fried onions and carrots.
  7. Stir the vegetables and continue to cook on Fry for 15 minutes.
  8. Cut the pickled cucumbers into cubes about the same size as the carrots.
  9. Cut the peeled garlic cloves into thin slices.
  10. Place the garlic in a slow cooker over the fried potatoes.
  11. Then add the tomato paste (you can substitute finely chopped fresh tomatoes if desired).
  12. Pour 150 ml of water into a multicooker, pepper and salt the food, and then mix thoroughly.
  13. Close the lid and turn on the “Extinguishing” mode for 30 minutes. In the middle of the program, open the multicooker and put the chopped pickles into it, stir the contents of the bowl and close the lid.
  14. After another 10 minutes, put the beef stew in a slow cooker and add 2-3 bay leaves.
  15. Stir the food again, add salt if necessary, then close the appliance lid and wait until the end of the program. Sprinkle Tatar basque with stew with fresh herbs before serving.
