Ingredients

  • 2 cup / s lentils, yellow (Moong Dal)
  • 2 cloves garlic)
  • 2 tablespoon ghee (brown butter)
  • 1 pinch Asant (Asafötida)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ turmeric
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 tablespoon ¾ cane sugar

Instructions

  1. Clean the yellow lentils and soak them in water. See the preparation instructions on the package.
  2. Heat the brown butter and fry the garlic in it. Add the lentils, stir and bring to a boil with water. Remove the resulting foam. Add the asafetida and turmeric and cook everything until cooked. Puree the lentils and mix in the required amount of water - approx. 1.5 cups - as well as salt and sugar. Bring the mixture to the boil briefly and serve with rice.
  3. Refine the dal and rice mixture to taste with ghee and a little lemon juice.
