Baklava with Meringue

This version of baklava is with the addition of whipped egg white. A simple dough with a few ingredients lends itself well to shaping. Even an inexperienced chef can make baklava according to this recipe.

Ingredients

  • Egg white – 1 pc.
  • Sugar – 2/3 cup
  • Nuts – 100 g
  • Sesame – 100 g
  • Water – 0.5 cups
  • Vegetable oil – 0.5 cups
  • Flour – 1.5-2 cups
  • Salt – a pinch

Directions

  1. Pour oil and water into a bowl, add a pinch of salt.
  2. We introduce 1.5 cups of sifted flour
  3. We mix the ingredients for the dough. If it’s thin, add the remaining flour. Cover the bowl with a napkin, wait 25-30 minutes.
  4. Preparing the filling: grind sesame seeds and nuts in a blender.
  5. We bring the protein with sugar to splendor.
  6. We mix protein and nut mass.
  7. Using a kitchen rolling pin, stretch the dough into a thin layer. We try to roll it out as thin as possible.
  8. We spread the protein mass on the cake, carefully distributing it over the entire surface.
  9. We roll the baklava into a roll, make portioned cuts. We process the surface of the baklava with an egg mixture, decorate with pieces of nuts. We send to the oven (180 degrees), wait 25-30 minutes.
  10. We cut the finished baked goods into portioned segments, serve at any time.
