Bernese Potatoes

Bernese potatoes are a very simple and tasty side dish for meat and fish.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 1.5 kg
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil – 6 tbsp
  • Salt – 2 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Peel one and a half kilograms of potatoes boiled in their uniforms.
  2. We rub peeled potatoes on a fine grater.
  3. In a pan with a thick bottom, heat 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Put the grated potatoes in the heated oil.
  4. Add 2 teaspoons of salt, without top and, stirring constantly, fry the potatoes.
    Then press the potatoes in a frying pan and fry them on the bottom until they are dark golden brown.
  5. Put on a dish with the bottom side up. Decorate with parsley sprigs and serve with fresh vegetables, meat, or fish. Bernese potatoes can also be cooked with cheese – for this, at the end of frying, sprinkle the potatoes with grated hard cheese.
