Crumble with Strawberries and Rhubarb

Crumble is a traditional English dessert that consists of baked fruits or berries topped with shortcrust pastry crumbs.

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 500 g strawberries
  • 3 stalks of rhubarb
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • Dough:
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp port wine
  • 200 g flour
  • 125 g butter
  • 50 g chopped walnuts
  • 50 g oatmeal

Directions

  1. Wash rhubarb and strawberries, dry, cut into small pieces.
  2. Put in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle with sugar, starch and pour over with port.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  4. Cut the butter into small cubes and grind with flour until finely crumbled. Add sugar, nuts, cereal and stir.
  5. Cover the strawberries with rhubarb crumbs and bake the crumble for 25-30 minutes (until the top is browned).
  6. You can serve crumble with vanilla cream, whipped cream, ice cream. I made a cream with whipped cream, powdered sugar and curd cheese.
