Instructions

  1. The original Bavarian-Scottish Whiskey Schmarrn combines the popular Kaiserschmarrn with the complex worlds of whiskey flavors, and is an excellent recipe for experimenting with whiskey fans. To get started, we recommend trying a milder whiskey, for example a mild Lowland or Speyside, advanced can (and should) try a whiskey Schmarrn with a smoky Islay.
  2. The evening before, put the raisins in a bowl with the whiskey of your choice so that all the raisins are covered with alcohol and can steep in the whiskey overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C top / bottom heat.
  4. Separate the eggs. Beat the flour with a pinch of salt, the egg yolk and the milk to a creamy batter. Beat the egg white separately together with the sugar until stiff (5 min) and then fold into the dough.
  5. Heat the butter in a pan (or ideally on a baking sheet), add the Schmarrn batter and leave to stand for a minute. Then sprinkle in the whiskey raisins that have soaked to the full. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, then pick apart, sprinkle with a little icing sugar and finish baking in 5 minutes.
  6. Serve with powdered sugar and / or fruit pulp, depending on your taste. The characteristic whiskey taste is now finely embedded in an airy junk.
  7. Whiskey Schmarrn with characteristically strong Islay whiskeys from distilleries such as Ardbeg, Lagavulin or Talisker is particularly recommended (although not inexpensive). Whiskey Schmarrn is impressively fine and complex in taste, prepared with a good sherry whiskey. Of course, it doesn`t have to be Scotch - the Bavarian-Bavarian variant with a Slyrs cask strength whiskey has also proven itself. The dignified whiskey connoisseur does not, of course, use a blend, the original Bavarian-Scottish whiskey Schmarrn always has the most beautiful finish with high-quality single malt!
