  • 500 g fish fillet (s) (herrin fillets)
  • 2 apples, sour
  • 3 large onion (s)
  • 3 pickled cucumber (s)
  • 4 cups sour cream
  • 3 cups yogurt
  • Juniper berry

Instructions

  1. Cut the herring fillets into bite-sized pieces. Peel the apples and cut into small pieces, also cut the pickles and onions into rings. Put a layer of apples / onions / cucumber in a bowl, place matjes pieces on top and not too few juniper berries, which should first be pressed lightly with the knife blade in order to better release the aroma. Then spread a layer of the mixed sour cream and yoghurt mixture on top. Repeat this until everything is used up. The top layer must be cream / yogurt. Cover with cling film and leave to soak in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
  2. Mix well before consumption. You can also use sour cream instead of sour cream, it tastes even creamier, but of course it is also a little fatter!
