  • 60 g butter
  • 2 onions)
  • 1 celery stalk (s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 head white cabbage
  • 400 g tomato (s), peeled, possibly chunky (can)
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Peel the onion and, like the cabbage, cut into large cubes. Peel and quarter the garlic cloves. Wake the celery stalk and cut it into pieces approx. 2 cm in size.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the onion, celery and garlic in the melted butter for 3-5 minutes until the onion (s) are translucent. Add the cut white cabbage to the pot and mix everything thoroughly. Turn the heat down a little and cook for 15 minutes.
  3. Then add the canned tomatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste. With the lid closed, simmer the cabbage over low heat for 30-45 minutes (until the cabbage is soft), stirring occasionally.
  4. Tip: Since my husband is a pure meat eater, I put sausage in - regardless of whether it is cut into pieces or whole. Smoked sausage tastes best.
