Ingredients

  • 125 g millet
  • 500 ml water
  • 3 small apples, sweet and sour
  • 1 tablespoon honey or raw cane sugar
  • 1 pinch (s) cinnamon
  • 1 pinch (s) ginger
  • some butter
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 50 g nuts, or kernels or seeds

Instructions

  1. Wash the millet (maybe soak, but it doesn`t have to be). Put the millet in cold water, bring to the boil and cook for up to 10 minutes. Do not stir, this will keep the millet grainy.
  2. Cut in the two apples and cook with them. Add spices. Let soak for 20 minutes. If too much liquid evaporates, give in a little. Finally add the butter and let it melt. Add nuts, kernels or seeds.
  3. If the millet is still too grainy, let it swell a little longer and add water if necessary.
  4. Cooking time in total 30-40 minutes.
  5. Tip:
  6. - Replace water with milk or a cream-water mixture or apple juice.
  7. - If the millet foams a lot during the cooking process, add a few drops of oil.
  8. - There are millet that only takes 10 minutes to cook without swelling. It stays grainier when cooked.
  9. - The dish can also be made with other fruits and fruit juice. But apple millet is really the most delicious. Great office meal in winter. Millet warms.
  10. - As a sweet main course you have to use approx. 120 g millet and more fruit.
