Baked Semolina with Apples and Cinnamon

An unusual version of the usual milk semolina porridge – we bake the porridge with apple pieces in the oven. In the process of baking, such semolina porridge is saturated with apple juice and is perfectly complemented by the aroma of cinnamon, as a result of which it becomes similar to the most delicate soufflé or pudding. A half of an apple under an appetizing golden-brown crust made of melted sugar gives the baked semolina porridge in milk an even more seductive look and pleasant flavor. Great idea for a festive breakfast!

Ingredients

  • Milk – 500 ml
  • Semolina – 100 g
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp + 2 teaspoons for sprinkling
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Butter – 20 g + for lubrication
  • Apples (sweet varieties) – 2 pcs. (300 g)
  • Egg (large) – 1 pc.
  • Ground cinnamon – 2-4 pinches (to taste)

Directions

  1. Prepare foods from the list. Semolina porridge cooks quickly enough, so it is best to turn on the oven in advance to warm up to a temperature of 180 degrees.
  2. Pour milk into a saucepan or small saucepan, set to maximum heat, and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low and, constantly stirring in a circular motion to form a funnel, pour in the semolina in a thin stream. While stirring, cook the semolina for about 3 minutes. Then turn off the heat, cover the container with a lid, and leave the porridge aside for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add butter (20 g), sugar (2 tablespoons), and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Peel the apples. Cut one apple into small cubes, after removing the seed capsule. Cut the second apple in half, peel, and set aside.
  5. Send the diced apple to the semolina. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
  6. Brush the portioned baking dishes with the remaining butter. Put prepared semolina porridge with apple slices into shapes and flatten. I use ceramic oval molds measuring 17x12x7 cm. During baking, the porridge will rise, so it is better to fill the molds not to the end, but about 2/3.
  7. Put half an apple in each mold, cut upwards, and lightly press into the porridge. Sprinkle each serving of porridge with 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1-2 pinches of cinnamon.
  8. Place the tins with porridge in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, and bake for 45-55 minutes, until the apples are delicious golden brown and soft. In the oven, the porridge will rise, but as it cools, it will gradually settle again.
  9. The baked semolina porridge with apples is ready.
