Ingredients

  • 500 g white bread, diced
  • salt
  • nutmeg
  • 250 ml milk, hot (measured generously)
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 g smoked meat
  • 1 onion (s), (finely diced)
  • Parsley, (amount to taste)
  • 4 egg (s), size L
  • 4 tablespoon breadcrumbs (breadcrumbs)

Instructions

  1. Season the white bread cubes with salt and nutmeg, then pour the hot milk over them and let them steep.
  2. In the meantime, melt the butter and fry the smoked meat cubes in it, add the onion cubes and let them become translucent, then sauté the parsley briefly.
  3. Mix the mixture with the soaked white bread cubes.
  4. Whisk the eggs and mix with the breadcrumbs into the mixture.
  5. Let everything stand for about 20 minutes until everything has connected.
  6. Form dumplings with wet hands and let them steep in salted water for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Or put the dumplings in cups that have been rinsed out with cold water or greased in the microwave for 4-5 minutes at 600 watts, covered, and cook.
  8. Makes about 10 pieces
  9. Either you make half the recipe or you freeze half, cooked of course.
  10. I freeze my leftover rolls in cubes or I have toast.
