Ingredients

  • 1 kg apples
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar (raw cane sugar)
  • some maple syrup
  • some honey
  • 500 g bread (s) (spelled, rye or whole rain), stale, round or diced
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 2 clove (s)
  • 100 ml milk
  • some butter for the pan
  • possibly powdered sugar for dusting
  • possibly vanilla powder

Instructions

  1. Cut the prepared apples into thin slices, sprinkle with a little sugar and let them steep. Mix the bread with the maple syrup, honey, milk and spices.
  2. Grease a baking dish and press half of the bread mixture firmly to the bottom. Spread the apples evenly on top, cover with the rest of the bread mixture and press firmly back on. Place small flakes of butter on top and bake in the oven at 150 ° C for 45 - 60 minutes. If you like, you can sprinkle the whole thing with some powdered sugar.
  3. For all myline fans: sprinkle 2 tablespoons of vanilla powder over the apples. The apple beggar can be served for breakfast, as a snack or as a cake alternative.
