Apple Rolls, Made From Shortcrust Pastry with Sour Cream

Do you want to please your loved ones with homemade cakes with apples? Then the recipe is for you! Buns made of shortcrust pastry on sour cream, with juicy apple filling, are prepared very simply and quickly. The dough is not yeast, does not require proofing, but in finished form it is very similar to it – the same soft and airy.

Ingredients

  • Apples – 3 pcs. (600 g)
  • Butter or margarine – 100 g
  • Sour cream – 100 g
  • Flour – 180 g
  • Baking powder – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Vanilla sugar – 5 g
  • Sugar – 4 tbsp
  • Powdered sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Yolk – 1 pc.
  • Ground cinnamon (optional) – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making sour cream shortcrust rolls. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Combine soft butter or margarine in a bowl with sour cream and vanilla sugar.
  3. Whisk butter with sour cream and vanilla sugar until smooth.
  4. Pour the flour sifted with baking powder into the resulting cream.
  5. Knead to a homogeneous dough.
  6. Gather the dough into a ball and place on a floured table.
  7. When the shortbread dough on sour cream is ready, you can start preparing the apple filling.
  8. Peel the apples and grate on a coarse grater or a grater for Korean carrot
  9. Pour sugar into grated apples.
  10. Stir apples with sugar. (If desired, you can also add ground cinnamon to the apple filling, I did not add it.
  11. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 35 x 20 cm in size.
  12. Place the apple filling in the center of the rectangle, squeezing it out of the juice.
  13. Cover the apple filling with one side of the dough. Moisten this side with a little water to make the dough a little sticky.
  14. Cover the dough with the free side of the dough and pinch the edges well.
  15. Cut the resulting apple roll into small rolls. In total, 8 rolls with apple filling are obtained.
  16. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment.
  17. Brush the apple rolls with whipped yolk.
  18. Bake apple rolls in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  19. Shortcrust rolls on sour cream are ready. Transfer to a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  20. When the apple rolls have cooled down, serve them to the table.
