Ingredients

  • liter ⅛ olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika powder, noble sweet
  • 3 chilli pepper (s) (Piri Piri), alternatively other small chilli peppers
  • 1 chicken (approx. .2 kg) or cut chicken pieces
  • 1 kg potato (s)
  • Sea salt, coarse
  • salt and pepper
  • Parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. For the seasoning oil, mix 6 tablespoons of the olive oil, paprika powder and 1 teaspoon of salt together.
  2. Piri Piri pods (there are pickled in the supermarket) or clean other chilli peppers. Score lengthways and remove the seeds. Wash the pods, pat dry, finely chop and stir into the oil.
  3. Wash the chicken, pat dry and divide into 12-14 pieces: Separate the wings and legs, separate the breast from the back and divide both (or just buy ready-made chicken pieces or just buy legs). Place parts of the skin on top of the drip pan and brush with the seasoning oil.
  4. Fry the chicken in a hot oven (top / bottom heat: 200 ° C, fan: 180 ° C, gas: level 3) for approx. 30 to 35 minutes. Brush with the seasoning oil from time to time.
  5. In the meantime, peel the potatoes. Then wash and cut into coarse wedges or sticks. Heat the remaining oil in a large, cast iron pan. Fry the potatoes in it, turning, for about 15 minutes. Season with coarse salt and pepper.
  6. Serve with the chicken pieces and garnish if necessary.
  7. White bread and a mixed salad go well with this.
  8. Tip: You can also put the individual chicken pieces on the grill. This is how food was prepared for us on the beach back then. Simply delicious.
