Herring Under a Fur Coat in a Loaf

An original appetizer of herring, boiled beets, eggs, pickled cucumbers, with melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • Herring fillet (peeled and cut into pieces) – 50-70 g
  • Boiled grated beets – 1 pc.
  • Pickled cucumber – 1 pc.
  • Boiled eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Softened butter – 150 g
  • Processed cheese – 1 pc.
  • Baton (baguette) – 1 pc.
  • Garlic
  • Mayonnaise

Directions

  1. Make a deep cut along the entire length of the loaf on the side.
  2. Remove bread pulp with a spoon so that walls 1 cm thick remain.
  3. Grate the cheese.
  4. Peel and grate eggs. Add to the cheese.
  5. Add oil.
  6. Grind into a homogeneous mass.
  7. Cut the cucumber lengthwise into pieces.
  8. Add a little garlic and mayonnaise to the beets. Spread the beets in an even layer over the entire inner surface of the loaf. Then spread the egg mass in an even layer.
  9. Put the pieces of herring “in line” on one of the halves of the loaf.
  10. Next, also “in line”, put a cucumber.
  11. Close the loaf and press down.
  12. Grease the edge with oil.
  13. Wrap the loaf in plastic wrap. When wrapping, press the halves of the loaf one to the other. Put the herring under a fur coat in a loaf in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Then remove the film. Cut the loaf into 1 cm thick pieces.
  14. The herring under a fur coat in a loaf is ready.
